Villa Mastrangelo is located in the heart of the gentle Picene hills, along the ancient Via Salaria, the historic salt road. Its strategic position offers an ideal link between the Adriatic coast and the Marche hinterland, halfway between the towns of San Benedetto del Tronto and Ascoli Piceno.
Thanks to its commanding mid-hill position, the villa offers breathtaking panoramic views over the valley below, the Apennine mountains, and the characteristic medieval villages that surround it, including Offida, Spinetoli, and Acquaviva Picena.
Villa Mastrangelo is the perfect starting point to explore the treasures of the Marche region: you can visit both the splendid coastal beaches and the cultural and natural sites of the hinterland. Our staff is available to suggest personalized itineraries through the historic villages of Offida, Ascoli Piceno, Grottammare Alta, and Cupra Marittima.
Construction of the villa dates back to 1844. Legend has it that a nobleman from Ascoli, Giacinto Mucciarelli, commissioned its construction on a hill so he would not lose sight of the noblewoman living in a villa in the valley below. The architect in charge of the project was Ignazio Cantalamessa.
All rooms were decorated to varying degrees; the most complex and interesting pictorial works are attributed to Raffaele Fogliardi, a regular collaborator of Cantalamessa and the artist responsible for the decorations in Villa Sacconi, Cavaceppo, and the Pinacoteca hall in Ascoli.
It has belonged to the Mastrangelo family since 1920.
